Deputy plans “Mountain to Sea” trek

On weekends this month and next, an Oconee deputy sheriff will walk from the South Carolina-North Carolina line to Columbia, to raise money for Tamassee-Salem High School. Deputy Norman Dukes says his goal is $4 thousand for athletics and special needs programs at the school where he works as a resource officer. Last school year Dukes raised money in a walk along highway 11. You can help Dukes make his goal by sending a check to Tamassee-Salem High School and include the words MTNS – TO – THE-Sea on the check. Next year he hopes to finish his South Carolina walk, by making a trek from Columbia to Sullivan’s Island.
