Destination Oconee Action Committee organizes

Oconee County’s ramped up effort to attract more visitors arrived last night with the organizational meeting of the new Destination Oconee Action Committee.  Five the committee’s seven members attended and were led thru the agenda by Janet Hartman, whom the county has hired to manage the effort.  Attending were committee members Jennifer Barnhart, Luther Lyle, Katie Smith, David Washburn, and Hal Welch.  Absent were Bob Hill and Robert Moore.  Hartman asked the committee to consider prioritizing key recommendations contained in a previously prepared 200-page document.  As one committee member described the objective, how to help make the visit of the Oconee tourist enjoyable to the extent that the visitor will want to return.
