Developers savor hospital property

For nearly 50 years, the expressed philosophy of Oconee Memorial Hospital has been to reserve unused property on the hospital grounds for medical-related purposes only.   But that hasn’t stopped commercial developers from savoring what could be.  Hunter Kome, president of the Oconee Medical Campus of the Greenville Hospital System, said last night that rarely a week passes without someone inquiring as to hospital property fronting 123.  One piece of property which a publicly unidentified retail business has expressed interest in is that piece that fronts U-S 123 between Aaron’s rental and the hospital entrance road across from Applewood Shopping Center.  At last night’s meeting of the Oconee Memorial Holdings Board, Kome said he tells those who inquire, “Hey, bring us a proposal.”  The holdings board manages the real estate on which sits the Oconee Medical Campus of GHS.
