Dietterick: return money to the county

When it comes to a Joint Regional Sewer Authority resolution now before the member cities, it’s Greg Dietterick’s recommendation to release Oconee County from an annual $610 thousand obligation to the JRSA. The city administrator serves as an authority commissioner. Last night, in a report to the mayor and council, he gave the following basis for his recommendation: “I believe that the funds should be given back to the county so that they can go ahead and invest that in other projects. This (the Golden Corner Commerce Park line) is just a start,” he said. Dietterick also responded to individual Seneca councilmen who asked about Walhalla’s hesitation to approve the resolution. Seneca City Council received Dietterick’s report last night as information. No action taken.
