Distracted driving requires one more vote

After last night, Oconee County is one vote away from a distracted driving law that will make illegal any driver headed down the road while holding a cell phone next to his ear. County Council last night gave the second of three required readings to the ordinance proposed by Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. It means that no distracted driving will become the law in the un-incorporated areas of Oconee County as early as the night of April 15, though Crenshaw promises a grace period before his officers start writing tickets.
