DNR Urges Caution Due to High Water Levels

Officials with the South Carolina Department of Natural resources are urging South Carolinians to use extra caution while enjoying the state’s waters. Officials say the increased rain has caused water levels to rise sharply, and the high levels may conceal objects which can create dangerous currents.  They further caution a number of boat landings are flooded and not suitable to launch a boat or other watercraft.  The DNR emphasizes the importance of life jackets and they encourage boaters to have a plan. The DNR also advises you tell someone where you’re going and when you plan to return.  You are also urged to have a “float plan” which can be downloaded from the DNR’s website.
