Don’t let pills reach the wrong hands!

For the 10th National Prescription Drug Take-Back, Oconee Sheriff’s Office will participate September 26.  That Saturday, from 10 a-m to 2 p-m, deputies will be stationed at the Law Enforcement Center at 300 S. Church Street and the Sheriff’s Office substation on the campus of Oconee Memorial Hospital.  They will collect medication and vitamins in liquid and prescription form during the event with the medication being disposed of properly so its contents will not end up in the hands of children or in places where the environment will be damaged.  It’s important to collect the medications to help prevent the abuse of drugs as well as the potential for poisoning and overdoses.  So far this year, the Sheriff’s Office has collected nearly 600 pounds of pills and 245 pounds of liquid medication.
