“Dr. John” returns from Washington

The elderly gentleman whom Seneca leaders affectionately refer to as “Dr. John” has returned from Washington, DC where he roamed the hallways of some of the nation’s leaders—-in search of monies to help Seneca advance its African-American history museum project. Not only did Dr. John Martin roam hallways, he got inside the offices of nine U-S senators and made contacts with some of the lawmakers’ aides. Martin told the mayor and city council last night he not only searched for money to fund educational programs to be offered by the Bertha Strickland Museum, he was able to advance the cause of Seneca. He said he extolled recent accomplishments of the city, such as its all electric bus system, its position as a place to retire, and its varied recreation programs.
