“Dr. John” says Seneca can justify a new museum

Seneca is amassing so many fine pieces of furniture, linen, silver and dishware that its volunteer director of museums says can justify the city creating a third museum.  Seneca already has the Lunney and the new Strickland Museum.  And this comes amid speculation that at least part of the former Kellett school will become a museum for a valued toy collection.   Dr. John Martin, director and chief curator for Seneca museums, says Seneca has acquired the contents of the Scarborough collection that will give the viewer an idea of what some of the country’s great houses looked like at the start of the 1900s.  At a chamber of commerce event, Martin also announced he’ll soon begin negotiations to bring to Seneca for display purposes art work which the Columbia Museum of Art keeps in storage for lack of display room.
