Drug and weapons charges land Utica man in jail

Drug and weapons charges have landed a 50-year old man in the Oconee jail.  The Sheriff’s Office has announced that Howard Eugene Johnson of Gammell Street was jailed Tuesday after officers said they removed what appeared to be a pot meth lab inside a building.  Arrangements were made with the state police to have the lab removed from the property.  And, according to the Sheriff’s Office, narcotics were found in the building.  A further search netted officers a gun and ammunition they report to have found in the room of the home.  Warrants charge Johnson charge with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a person convicted of a violent felony and possession of a controlled substance.
