Duncan amendment accepted

South Carolina’s 3rd District congressman says an amendment he offered to the Energy and Water Appropriations bill passed Friday on a voice vote. Republican Jeff Duncan says he succeeded in transferring $2.5 million from the administration account of the Department of Energy to the Army Corps of Engineers. According to Duncan, the money will increase funds for projects such as the Port of Charleston and, at the same time, will require bureaucratic government agencies to operate more efficiently. Duncan said he recently visited the expanding Panama Canal and saw the upgrades underway to widen the canal for larger ships bound to and from Atlantic and Gulf ports on the eastern seaboard.
