Dyar’s plea to Washington: “Cut the nonsense”

Oconee County’s director of veterans’ affairs is showing his frustration with the nation’s leaders. Jerry Dyar used his column in Fair-Town Times, serving southern Oconee, to decry what he sees as Washington using the country’s military and its veterans as pawns in a game of partisan politics. Dyar today amplified his comments during an interview with 96.3/WGOG NEWS. “It’s pathetic, and I tire so easily of what’s going on up there—or not going on up there,” Dyar told us. What especially annoyed Dyar were a couple of the ramifications of the 16-day government shutdown this fall, which temporarily closed the World War Two memorial and denied funds to American families who lost loved ones in today’s wars.
