E-filing debuts in the Common Pleas Court

A new way of doing business arrives today in the Oconee Common Pleas Court.  Today Oconee County becomes the 10th South Carolina county to implement electronic filing of all civil court documents.  No longer will attorneys or their representatives have to carry lawsuits and related documents to the county courthouse.  One of the benefits of electronic filings is documents may be filed any time of the day.  Another benefit, according to Clerk of Court Beverly Whitfield, are the reduced paper handling and the associated costs of printing and mailing items.  E-filing permits lawyers, court officers, litigants, defendants and others to view cases thru the internet.
