Early summer opening predicted for pool

Walhalla Mayor Danny Edwards predicted today his city will be able to open its swimming pool “sometime in July” and become the county’s only municipality to offer public swimming. Edwards made the prediction today to the Rotary Club, thanking all of the volunteers and prison labor who are making the pool opening a reality. “The pumps work,” the mayor said. Edwards called amazing the amount of money donated to the project, the latest being $500 from a donor the mayor did not name. He said he doesn’t want to single out anyone above anyone else in the project, but paid special thanks to County Councilman Wayne McCall and Russell Price, president of the Oconee Home Builders Association.
