Easley woman stands trial in Oconee

An Easley woman went on trial today in Oconee County, charged with burglary and drug possession at an unoccupied house on a winter’s morning two years ago near Seneca. Against the charge of burglary first degree and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, Teresa Annette Davis is being defended by two lawyers from the Oconee Public Defender’s Office. The jury was told that Davis was found on the roof of a N. Bayshore Drive house, but defense lawyer Russell Patrick told the jury they will hear an explanation for why she wound up on the roof. The trial’s first witness, Douglas Paul, said, by driving by his mother’s house, on February 11, 2014 he suspected something wrong when he saw a strange car in the driveway. Paul said he used a key to enter his mother’s home, saw several household valuables re-arranged, and heard noise up the stairs. The witness said he then yelled out, “I have a gun and I am armed.”
