Economic development “matters” make for private meeting

Oconee County Council has announced it will hold a special meeting next week to talk about three economic development matters—not specified in the announcement of the meeting. Monday’s 5:30 meeting is planned as an executive session. Yesterday, on display in the office of the Oconee Economic Alliance, was an overhead photograph of the Seneca Rail Site industrial park property below the caption of “Project Yak”, a code-named applied to the project. When asked about it, Executive Director Richard Blackwell said representatives of the company involved had a look three weeks ago at the property—which is owned jointly by Oconee County and the City of Seneca. Blackwell called it a good site visit and said, “We’re in the hunt.”
