Earthquakes are not an uncommon occurrence in South Carolina. That’s a statement everyone should always keep in mind, especially this time of the year when we practice what to do in the event of the unthinkable. According to the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, the state experiences numerous minor earthquakes annually. Most of them are so minor, they cannot be felt. However, the possibility does exist for the state to experience stronger seismic events.

 

On October 18 South Carolina will join with other states to test its readiness just in case. And you can learn tips about how to stay earthquake-ready by listening to this Sunday’s ‘Community Sound Off’ with Scott Krein, director of Oconee Emergency Preparedness.
