Electric power outage scheduled for three hours

Seneca Light and Water is alerting a large swath of its electric power customers to an outage that is scheduled to last three hours and take place beginning midnight Sunday. According to Bob Faires, utilities director, the outage is planned for a period when most people are asleep and is required for maintenance work at the city’s #2 substation on Goddard Avenue. Affected will be those customers on the south side of the railroad tracks. A communication problem in advance of a similar outage last week failed to get word out in time, but Faires says this time the technical problem has been taken care of and Light and Water will begin sending “blast” notifications starting this afternoon. Some commercial establishments will be getting actual phone calls.
