Eleven charges failed against Seneca woman

Eleven criminal charges have been placed against a 47-year old Seneca woman, the result of a police investigation late this year of burglaries, including two incidents at churches. The police in Seneca today identified the woman arrested as Laverne Lawrence of the one thousand block of E. South Sixth Street. The police Sunday say they received an anonymous complaint that Lawrence, for whom they held arrest warrants, was in the area. The police say they found their suspect walking south on Hunter Street. The crime scenes, for which the police had opened investigations, included the Seneca Church of God of Prophecy on Overbrook Drive and Faith Tabernacle Church on Jones Avenue. They also investigated a case of theft at a home on the 900 block of E. South Second Street, where 30 pills of medication were stolen. Besides larceny and burglary Lawrence was charged with safecracking, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving false information to law enforcement, and malicious injury to personal property. At the pastor’s office at the Seneca Church of God of Prophecy, the police were told that several gift cards were missing. Those Bi-Lo and Wal-Mart gift cards were kept by the church to give to those in need of help.
