Europe’s loss to be OC’s gain

Some new details were provided this morning about a couple of code-named projects that are in the pipeline to make investments in Oconee County. Two companies are planning to move machinery and business lines from Europe to existing Oconee County operations. One, according to the E-D Office’s Richard Blackwell, is to mean a capital investment of $12 million and at least 20 new jobs. There’s another code-named project—this one referred to as “Project Domicile—which Blackwell today was hesitant to say too much about. The monthly report to the commission states this about that project: “Oconee County has gotten a visit from the site selection team associated with this project and is one of a handful of sites the company is concerning for a US presence.” Blackwell added that it’s a project for which there is much competition.
