Extra security in place at West-Oak Middle

To ensure the safety of staff and students, extra security is in place today at the West-Oak Middle School.  Oconee public schools report at the end of the school day yesterday, two students said they saw another student with a weapon.  Law enforcement began to investigate.  The student was identified and located, but no weapon found.  The following automatic call went out to parents last evening:  “Administration has been made aware of a rumor that a student may have had a weapon on school property today.  Appropriate action has been taken and Law Enforcement is investigating.  Your child’s safety (faculty and staff safety) is of utmost importance to us.  We want tomorrow to run as smooth as possible and extra law enforcement will be on campus to help make your child feel safe.”
