Fair announces three scholarship winners

The South Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair announces that three local high school students have completed beekeeping courses offered by the Oconee Beekeepers Association and the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service. The scholarships go to Taylor Lynn Thomas of West-Oak High School and to Parker Reed Scruggs and Carson Wilder Solesbee of Seneca High School. Besides course fees, the scholarship covers the cost for students to buy start-up equipment for their first hive of bees. The Heritage Fair this year takes place September 30-October 5 on highway 123 near Westminster. Its mission is to provide Oconee County and surrounding areas education on the historical relevance of agriculture and to promote opportunities of an agriculture lifestyle and career choices for people of all ages.
