Faires will not serve after all

The potential for dual-office holding is costing Seneca’s Bob Faires a spot on the Oconee Capital Project Sales Tax Commission. Mayor Dan Alexander this week announced Faires’ appointment as Seneca’s representative to the commission. This morning, however, County Administrator Scott Moulder said Faires’ service as a member of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority would raise questions of dual office holding. Mayor Alexander said this morning that he became aware of the complication and that lawyers were checking the law books about it as late as last night. So, the mayor has gone back to the drawing board for a replacement. And the mayor says he hopes to have the replacement by early next week.
