Farmers Market to meet opening date

The home for what’s planned to be Oconee’s first countywide farmers market remained a work in progress yesterday afternoon, but one of its leading volunteers is confident the market will open on schedule a week from tomorrow—Saturday, May 4. “We’re in the process now of setting the posts for the structure that’ll be the shaded house for the Farmers Market. This will be where the vendors set up and sell under,” said Gwen McPhail. She and the other project volunteers are using Sam Thrift-owned property as a temporary location for the market. McPhail likes its central geographic location, off highway 123 near the SC 11 interchange.
