The Westminster police chief said today, “Our department’s prayers and thoughts go out to the families during this tragic event.” Chief Dean Awalt said, while the investigation continues, one of his officers has been placed on administrative leave. Although, as Awalt told 96.3/WGOG NEWS, he believes his officer followed procedures properly in chasing a suspect’s car. That car wound up wrecking at 3:35 Friday morning on highway 24 near Eva Frank Road—an accident that took the life of a 14-year old boy, Jesse Logan Hannah. Jesse and two other occupants were ejected from the 1999 Mercury. In all, four boys were in the car. Two of the four required hospital treatment. The highway patrol is investigating the accident. Its spokesman says the investigation involves  “MAKE”–the patrol’s special investigative unit
