September 12, 2012

Greg Long, deputy coroner for Oconee, says before noon today he will release the name of the fatality involved in a traffic crash at mid-afternoon yesterday near Walhalla. Long says the fatality is a Walhallan who, at the family’s request, is not being identified now to allow other relatives to be notified. State troopers say the victim is a female. Her car and another vehicle, according to the patrol, collided at 3:03 p.m. at S.C. 11 and Bear Swamp Road. Troopers say the other vehicle involved, a pickup truck, was operated by Thomas Holland, 23-year old Westminster resident. According to an account from Lance Corporal Bill Ryne, the accident occurred when decedent’s car was attempting to cross S.C. 11 from Bear Swamp Road. Ryne said Holland’s 2004 Ford pickup was traveling on 11.
