The victim of yesterday’s fatal crash near Walhalla is a 55-year old woman. Deputy Coroner Greg Long said Joyce Grant of W. Bear Swamp Road was the lone occupant of a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria sedan. Long quoted witnesses as saying that after stopping her car at Bear Swamp Road and highway 11, Grant began to cross the intersection and collided with a Ford pickup truck headed southbound. The highway patrol identified the driver of the truck as 23-year old Westminster resident Thomas Holland. The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Grant was pronounced dead at the hospital within the hour. Long said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
