Feeling good about “The State of Oconee”

“If you walk away from here today and can only remember one thing, I ask that you to remember this, ‘You are doing the right things. Continue on down the path.’” That’s how Maceo Nance, the last of five speakers, closed the 2013 “State of Oconee” which played to a full cafeteria audience today at West-Oak Middle School. Nance directs Small Business and Rural Development for the S-C Department of Commerce. And he gave a thumbs-up to the commitments Oconee County is making to strengthen its economy through the retention and creations of jobs, particularly the manufacturing kind. He applauded County Administrator Scott Moulder’s choice of Richard Blackwell, a young man to succeed the retiring Jim Alexander, as economic development recruiter. And, for his part, Blackwell likened Oconee County to a rocket about to launch on a mission to meet its goals.
