‘Fierce Five’ U.S. gymnasts injured on tour

Two members of the “Fierce Five” U.S. women’s gymnastics team that won the team gold medal at the London Olympics last month were injured with minutes of each other while on the Kellogg’s Tour of Champions on Sunday. The Yahoo! Sports blog Fourth-Place Medal reported Tuesday that McKayla Maroney and Aly Raisman both fell while performing on the uneven bars. Maroney landed badly on a dismount and was carried off by medical personnel, and then right after her, Raisman fell while moving from the low bar to the high bar and banged her legs on the cement. Raisman is bruised and scraped, but otherwise okay, while Maroney will undergo further testing on her left knee. In addition to winning team gold in London, Raisman also won a gold medal in the floor exercise and a bronze in the balance beam, while Maroney took the silver medal in vault.
