Fire at manufacturing plant

A fire has been extinguished inside the Oconee manufacturing plant of Johnson Controls near Seneca.  West Union Fire Department reports the fire around 9:15 this morning damaged ducts in the air handling system.  Work at the battery plant remained halted for about two hours as smoke was removed. Normal operations were expected to resume in quick order. No one was hurt.  The fire call generated a large response from Oconee public safety personnel, including HAZMAT workers.  Besides West Union Fire Department, fire fighters assisted from Walhalla, Picket Post-Camp Oak, Seneca, and Keowee-Ebenezer. Walhalla Rescue sent personnel for the purpose of rehabbing fire fighters.
