Fire cause sought

The Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office has ruled out arson in last weekend’s fire in a Stephens County industrial building. But while the investigators see nothing suspicious, they were at the Heavywood Furniture building Monday to start to try to determine what caused the fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office is working in cooperation with the company’s insurance office. The Saturday morning fire brought out six Stephens County fire departments and assistance from Oconee County. Heavywood Furniture makes wood furniture—such as desks, tables, chairs, and beds. WNEG in Toccoa quotes Glenn Allen, spokesman for the fire marshal’s office, as saying about $60 thousand worth of merchandise was in the building and ready to be shipped.
