Fire consumes large truck

Fire this morning destroyed a tractor-trailer truck in the Friendship Community near Seneca. Charlie King, the Oconee fire chief, says the fire broke out on the property of a home on Wild Rose Lane near the Coneross Creek. “The truck was kept at the residence of the operator. He was off-duty. He came in Sunday morning from an over-the-road trip. He was uninjured and awoke to the fire in the yard this morning,” King said. The dollar loss was estimated at $75 thousand. No immediate explanation for the fire, and the fire chief says it’s now a matter for the insurance company of the tractor-trailer truck operator.
