Fire fighters and power crews draw the public’s praise

The hard work fire fighters and power crews have put in since the start of the winter weather last weekend has not gone unnoticed by members of the public. 96.3/WGOG NEWS has been hearing expressions of gratitude from members of the public for the power workers who have responded in bad weather to reconnect service and for fire fighters who have answered a variety of calls. One call that drew a special thank you was during the high winds of Saturday night. After hearing a loud noise, the homeowner opened his door to find his yard on fire. The fire department arrived quickly and encountered an active electric wire on the ground. The effort to stop the fire required special precautions because of the hot wire. For cautionary purposes, a fire fighter stayed there for several hours to await power crews who were deluged by multiple calls.
