Fire near Walhalla termed “suspicious”

House of Suspiciou FireA fire last week near Walhalla has been termed suspicious by the Oconee Sheriff’s Department. And the department is asking the public to help with information that can help determine why Thursday’s fire started in two sections of the home at 122 Warner Mill Road. Fire fighters said they spotted fire in the garage and basement and determined no one was home. A hole was found in a basement window pointing toward the front of the home, and fire fighters broke out what was left of the window glass to put out the fire. Fire fighters relayed to sheriff’s investigators information they learned at the scene and that set in motion law enforcement’s investigation.
