Firefighters respond to Port Bass blaze

Oconee County firefighters responded to a home fire in the South Union Community late Saturday afternoon. Fire Chief Charlie King says the home was located at 180 North Port Bass Road after. The home was a single story, double wide mobile home lake house. King says responders were on the scene within 8 minutes of receiving the call at 4:37 PM. Both occupants got out safely and the blaze was under control within 20 minutes. The cause is still under investigation, but King says there was no working smoke detector. Red Cross is helping the two adult occupants. Units from South Union, Fair Play and Oakway responded.
