Fires may be burglary-related

Oconee sheriff’s officers are trying to figure out who’s responsible for crimes in the former mill village of Utica near Seneca. Crimes to be solved are home fires and church burglaries, and the Sheriff’s Office requests the public to relay any information that may be helpful. Jimmy Watt, Sheriff’s Office spokesman, says the latest incident was a fire Sunday morning at 27 Ames Street. Fires were found Sunday in two parts of the house whose door was unlocked and windows boarded up. If you have information, contact Crime Stoppers at 638-STOP. You can text a tip to 274637.
