First day attendance numbers

Oconee public schools recorded countywide attendance today at 10,240–the first day back from summer recess.  Total attendance at the new Walhalla High School at 987–fell 13 short of the figure of 1,000.  On day 1 last year it stood at 988. The Walhalla High attendance was the highest among the county’s four high schools.  Nearby Tamassee-Salem’s count of 250 dropped from 300 from the year before.  Walhalla Middle’s 795 students today topped middle school counts.  Seneca’s Northside Elementary enrolled the highest number of elementary students at any one Oconee school, 616.
