First signs of a re-make

Walhalla’s former newspaper building is going to receive its first tangible signs of renovation next week when a contractor starts work on the outside. Keith Denny, new owner of the former Keowee Courier building on Short Street, says he has engaged a contractor to lay down a new metal roof and metal trim. Denny says the workers will start the job once two straight days of good weather are passed. A young attorney with an eye to preserve what’s old, Denny says he is still tossing ideas around as to what new purpose the former home of Walhalla’s weekly paper will serve. Courier editor Ashton Hester and his office have relocated to an address on N. College Street.
