Fishing lines to be lowered this weekend!

At both Keowee and Hartwell lakes this weekend, there are separate fishing competitions.  Ken  Sloan says both tournaments bring hundreds of anglers to the region and the promise of making the cash registers ring at motels, stores, and restaurants.  The Wal-Mart FLW Tour, featuring the best anglers in the world of fishing, is coming to Lake Hartwell.  Coming to Lake Keowee are college fishing teams competing for the 2016 FLW College Fishing National Championship.  In the collegiate competition, the winning team will compete against each other the following day in a one-day fish-off on an undisclosed body of water.  Those two anglers will weigh in before the final weigh-in of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour at Lake Hartwell.  The team member with the largest one-day stringer will advance to the world championship of bass fishing, the 2016 Forrest Wood Cup, and a chance to win $300 thousand dollars. Ken Sloan, executive director of the Mountain Lakes CVB, invites the public to be present when the anglers start their practice rounds at 7:30 tomorrow morning at South Cove Park, as well as for Thursday and Friday’s weigh-in at Green Pond Landing, 470 Green Pond Road, Anderson at 3:15 pm, prior to the day 3 weigh-in of the FLW tour event at Lake Hartwell.
