Five arrests made as result of July 3 burglary

Law enforcement authorities say the last of five people wanted in the investigation of a home burglary near the Long Creek Highway is now in custody. The latest arrest was that of Calvin Clark Webb. The Oconee Sheriff’s Office sent the 41-year old Webb to jail late last night on charges of receiving stolen goods and accessory after the fact of a felony. Two other Oconeeans were jailed at Walhalla facing identical charges. And two more are jailed charged with burglarizing a home on Moore Hill Road July 3. A fifth person was jailed in Transylvania County, North Carolina, where a pickup truck stolen in the burglary was found. A 2004 GMC, an antique chest containing family heirlooms, money, credit cards, birth certificates and other items were taken. Investigators this morning are still trying to retrieve property still missing. According to Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, three of those arrested began making phone calls to sell the items.
