Focusing attention on the needs of Oconee children

The event in Oconee County that is going to mark this month’s National Week of the Young Child will be a community baby shower designed for all expectant mothers. The event will be 10 to 2 on Saturday, April 18 at Seneca’s Shaver Recreation Complex. To the first 50 pregnant women who go, there will be free diaper bags. But there is more: free pregnancy tests, vendors, food, giveaways and drawings for prizes. Marie Dunnam of Oconee First Steps heads one of the many local programs to help young children and their families. Her organization, along with the Parenting Place and the Nurse-Family Partnership, sponsors the baby shower.
