FOLKS: Duke cancels lease for Warpath Landing

“FOLKS”—Friends of Lake Keowee—says Duke Energy has officially notified the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that it has invoked the cancellation clause in the Warpath Landing lease.  The announcement was made in a story on the front page of “FOLKS” current newsletter, which says the notification was made March 4 and that Duke will take responsibility to maintain the access area and for any future amenities that might be required by the federal agency.  The property, located on the Pickens County side of Lake Keowee, has been pursued by developers as a potential hotel and conference center project with around 100 boat slips, but their project wound up in a court battle among the partners.
