Foothills Trail adds amenities for hiking season

May 1, 2014

Something new has been added along the 76-mile Foothills Trail, and hikers and the general public are invited to celebrate the additions during a ceremony this month at the Oconee State Park end of the trail. Heyward Douglass of the Foothills Trail Conference says there’s new paved parking, along with some kiosks whose maps help guide hikers. The ceremony takes place 10 o’clock Friday morning, May 16 at the Oconee State Park. It’s an event that’ll attract Phil Gaines, South Carolina PRT official. Local state lawmakers are expected to take part.
