For drugs and assault, Walhallan lands in prison

A judge ordered a 10-year prison term today for a Walhalla man who admitted guilt to two criminal charges.  Judge Benjamin Culbertson in the General Sessions Court handed down a pair of 10-year concurrent prison terms after Jonathan David Crooks pleaded guilty to assault and battery first degree and distribution of methamphetamine third offense.  The judge explained to Crooks that the meth distribution part of the sentence brings a mandatory minimum of 10 years and no eligibility for parole.
