For Salem, it may require “back to the drawing board”

One of the casualties of last year’s one cent capital project sales referendum defeat was the hope of Salem for money to run a water line along n. highway 11. The Salem Town Council was urged during last week’s public comment session to not give up. One town official says, however, that without the money the one-cent tax would have generated, her town will have to “go back to the drawing board” to figure out a way to pay for the line. Water service on 11 is seen by Salem as a way to bring commercial development to their area.
