For the 10th time, shorten the session

A constitutional amendment to shorten the annual South Carolina legislative session passed overwhelmingly in Columbia, with Oconee’s two House members voting with the majority. Representatives Bill Whitmire of District One and Bill Sandifer of District Two cast their votes with the yea side, as the measure passed 91-9, well exceeding the required two-third majority. According to an announcement from the office of House Speaker, the amendment cuts one month from the start and one month from the end and would save taxpayers more than $400 thousand a year.  It’s the 10th time the House has passed a bill to shorten its legislative session.
