Former Lottery Employee Arrested

A former employee with the South Carolina Education Lottery has been arrested and charged with embezzlement.  Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division day 54 year old Anthony J. McNeil of Columbia was arrested Tuesday.  According to the warrant, between April 2010 and August 2012, invoices were manually manipulated and causing funds not to be collected from some retailers.  Other retailers were overcharged.  The warrant accuses McNeil of contacting retailers and advising them to direct funds into an account, which was controlled by him.  McNeil is accused of directing more than $226,000 into that account. If convicted he could face up to 10 years in prison. The arrest was the result of an investigation by SLED at the request of the SC Education Lottery.
