Former OC teacher wins Teacher of the Year

A first grade teacher at the Pickens Elementary School is the toast today of South Carolina public education. Darlene Sutton receives a $25 thousand cash award and the use of a BMW for one year for being chosen South Carolina Teacher of the Year. Sutton is being congratulated not only by her current employer, the Pickens County School District. She also received congratulations from Dr. Mike Lucas, Oconee Superintendent of Education. Sutton is a graduate of Oconee’s Tamassee-Salem High School and a former teacher in the Westminster area.
