Former Westminster man pushes for state anthem

A former Westminster resident, now living in Rock Hill, is behind an effort to create an official anthem for South Carolina.  Kevin Gray says he has taken the state’s motto, “While I Breathe, I Hope,” and composed a musical piece.  Gray says two Rock Hill state lawmakers, John King and Gary Simrill, introduced a bill in the House of Representatives March 15 to make the musical composition the state’s official anthem.  We’re told the bill sits in committee and likely won’t see action at least until next year at the earliest.
