Forty trees envisioned for Walhalla’s new-look Main Street

Forty trees at a total cost of around $25 thousand dollars are envisioned for Walhalla’s new-look Main Street.  And a tree expert, working with Partners for Progress, identified the types of trees his committee will recommend.  Richard Harper said a variety of tall oak trees for the medians, while sugar and red maple trees are the committee’s recommendation for the north side of Main Street—between the blocks of Ann and Tugaloo.  Harper told last night’s meeting of Partners for Progress that he prefers to wait until January and February to plant the trees, believing planting the trees during those winter months will allow for the best chance for them to survive and to grow to maturity.  It’s likely further details about Main Street’s new trees are likely to be announced during a special Partners meeting next month.
